A clever version of the list we used to have and then swiping an app out of that list could be used to remove from a Overlay. I would like a list of apps in Overlay so I can switch between them. If you do the above but having killed Notes then go back to an app (Safari) and select Notes from the Dock then not only does it stubbornly start in Overlay mode but it also again does not appear as an app in the multi-tasking view. You can now switch as if it was never an Overlay.Now crucially go to Home Screen so no app on view.As before for Notes to appear you needed to do the start Notes with no other app in view at least once. swipe up to middle of screen to get the multi-tasking panel.Probably the most doable solution until you get an app to replace Notes in Overlay. So any other app you can switch anyway you want but always use the control panel to switch to Notes.

Great but now I want Notes as my full screen app Swipe from the right to bring back Notes in overlay.

We, the end-user, can and do make errors if there’s a tripwire, we’ll find it sooner or later! Attempting this within a “touch” UI is a challenge - and some of the necessary changes can catch us out. However, with the increasing power and shear untapped capabilities of iPad, with iPadOS, Apple have finally given us something significantly more complex. Safari, Mail and other native Apps were really simple - with a very simple and intuitive UI. The real problem, for many (if we are honest about this) is that iOS used to be a rather simple affair - without the more complex features of other platforms. In writing the guide, I hope to have documented both “features” and pitfalls of iPadOS Safari that I and others have encountered - sometimes more than once! I certainly appreciate the frustration that you have experienced - I’ve been there - hence my efforts to try to document the known common causes and remedies for many of these situations.
